Every once in a while, we at PDMB step outside our comfort zone and try a track we might not normally like. A Grave With No Name’s “When I Pass Through Here” is proof that sometimes that can be a very, very good thing. The track is build on haunting, shimmering guitar chords that call to mind a sundown shootout in the lawless West. ASIATICA’s debut track, though very brief, packs a lot of potential in its 1:42 run-time. The sister of breakout RnB artist Steve Lacy, Asia shows off just as much talent as her brother with this effortlessly flowing, soulfully minimalist groove. The instrumentation is just a bouncy bass line and a riffing guitar, but that’s all Asia needs to layer her impeccable vocalization over. Keep an eye on her, she’s going places. Listen here:
